Margate  Statistics

Margate was founded in the 1950s.  Back then much of the land was either farmland or else part of the Everglades .  In 1961, it was officially incorporated as a city.  If you’re interested in golf or tennis, the city has three golf courses which is a lot for a city whose area occupies 9 square miles. Margate also has a waterpark called Calypso Cove run by the department of parks and recreation.  The city’s “Free Paint” program provides residents with recycled paint for exterior use with a generous 20 gallons per resident per year.  For residents that plan home improvements such as replacing an old roof, installing solar panels, installing tankless water heaters, installing wind proof windows or making any other storm safety repairs there is the PACE program to help them with the costs.
